We have an exciting opportunity in our Product Development Department. We are currently looking for a Product Development Associate.

Position Details:

Summary: Formulates, plans, organizes, writes, examines, and implements educational curriculum, schedules, and activities for families or individuals learning at home while part of the Product Development team.

Supervision Received and Exercised: This position is supervised by the Product Development Manager. This position does not exercise any supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions: • Conducts research on a wide variety of subjects (history, science, language arts, etc.) using a variety of sources to collect, record, analyze, validate, and evaluate data. • Creates, modifies, and/or validates learning schedules, activities, notes, and instructions according to the company mission, individual brand design, and customer feedback. • Translates research and user inputs into accurate and age-appropriate tools and services. • Writes, proofreads and edits a wide variety of materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of • Commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the home schooling, education, curriculum, and product development field; including learning and educational principles and research design, and writing methods and standards. • Quark, InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. • Microsoft Office suite. • Knowledge of and willingness to embrace company mission, vision, goals, rules, policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.

Ability to • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees, vendors, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the homeschool community. • Organize material and present information clearly and concisely in verbal and written form. • Innovate and think creatively. • Synthesize a cogent message from an overabundance of data. • Recognize the learning abilities of different age groups. • Work swiftly and effectively to meet deadlines. • Accommodate last minute changes to longer term projects. • Understand the contribution of a project to the overarching whole of the company offerings in the marketplace. • Attend to detail and have excellent multi-tasking skills. • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; and work well in group problem-solving situations. • Work independently and as a team player, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be adaptable to a dynamic environment and changing requirements. • Display original thinking and creativity; meet challenges with resourcefulness; generate suggestions for improving work; develop innovative approaches and ideas; and present ideas and information in a manner that gets others’ attention.

Experience and Education: An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered. Education: Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in History, English, Business or a related field.

Experience: Two or more years of experience in educational curriculum development, implementation, creative writing, or a directly related field.
