How To Set Up Recommended Items In Web Store Amp Content Manager

How to set up Recommended Items in WebStore/Content Manager

The recommended item feature in WebStore allows us to suggest additional items for our clients to buy when they are on the product view page. If they are going to buy this particular item, we would recommend that they also consider buying these items. Whatever we recommend will show up in an ordering grid at the bottom of the product view for the item we have tied other items too using the procedure below.

For example, if they are buying Saxon Math 76 (#6MS), then we would recommend that they also buy the DIVE CD for 76 (#6M013).

  1. In the Content Manager, find the article for a product or a category that should have recommended items.
  2. Edit the article.
  3. Find the data field labeled "Recommended Items Grid".
  4. Type in the item numbers that you want to recommend if they buy this product. Separate the list of item numbers by commas or spaces.
  5. Save the article.Run Prodematic and select the option to rebuild the recommended items grids.

Guidelines for Recommended Items

  • Packages already display all of their child components. When you buy the package, you will get the children. So it is not a good idea to set up children of a parent package as recommended items on the parent's item number.
  • On the other hand, if someone is looking at a child item's product page and they see that it comes in a package then they might be persuaded to buy the more expensive package instead of individual items. That would be a good thing for them and for Sonlight. So it is a good idea to add the parent item number as a recommended item on each of it's children's item numbers.
  • For 4-day and 5-day packages, and all of the other variations of a core package or whatever, it is a good idea to let people see the other choices when they are viewing the product page so they can make the best choice for them. Setting up recommended items lets them see what all we offer.
  • For our core packages, we would like to set up all of the other options from our catalog that we recommend in order to complete a comprehensive package as recommended items. So for Level 1 Core, we'll recommend the Language Arts, Science, Math and Electives packages that are in our catalog as Sonlight's best pick.
  • Any math program that has CDs, flash cards, solutions manuals, teacher's guides or extra problems for a student to work should have them all as recommended items.
  • Any package that has additional student workbooks should have them as recommended items so that parents teaching more than one child at-a-time will find it easy to order.
  • This is only a few suggestions for how this powerful feature can be used.
