How To Copy Web Stores Product Information Into Assist And Get It Into Web Store

This procedure takes approximately 30 minutes.

Follow the steps below carefully and you will successfully update WebStore with data that has been entered in the Product Manager and in Assist.

You may need to be set up with certain privileges before you can perform all of the steps in this procedure.

This is what is about to happen:

  1. You will convert the Product Manager data that is on the web into a format that can be imported into Assist.
  2. You will download those text files from the web server that is in downtown Denver to the M: drive on our local Sonlight network.
  3. You will import those text files from the M: drive into Assist on our IBM AS/400. The data goes into the Assist/WebStore interface area.
  4. You will run a process in Assist that will convert the data into files that can be imported into WebStore.
  5. You will run a process in Assist that will import the files from our AS/400 to the WebStore server in downtown Denver. Then it will import those files into the WebStore application's database.
  6. You will run a process in Assist that will reboot the Tomcat server on the SCOPS server in our hosting facility in Denver. This will make the new data live on SCOPS.

Ready? Then let's begin.

Convert Product Manager Data

Click on the appropriate link below to start the conversion process.

Download Text Files to the M: Drive

  1. When the program from the previous step finishes, there are links at the bottom of that browser window in the second-to-last section on that page for downloading the text files. Make note of the location where it instructs you to save those files.
  2. Click on a link for one of the files. It will open the converted text file in a new window.
  3. Click on the View selection from the window's toolbar and select Source. That will bring up the actual source of the text file in a text editor.
  4. Click on the File option on the text editor's toolbar and select Save As.
  5. Save the file to the location that is specified in the window from the first step. Remove the "[1]" from the filename before saving!
  6. Close the text editor and the window that is displaying the text file.
  7. Repeat these steps for all files listed.

NOTE: Be sure that you save the files to the correct directory on the M: drive. Otherwise your data could be imported into the wrong environment on the next step or it could not be imported at all.
